Prisoners at the Corradino Correction Facility (CCF) are helping to combat the outbreak of COVID-19 by producing masks and other personal protective equipment, that are not only being used by officers and residents of the Corradino Correctional Facility, but also by other government entities.

Minister for Home Affairs, National Security and Law Enforcement Byron Camilleri has expressed his gratitude towards this initiative which he described as a nobel gesture.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Minister Camilleri said that the residents of the Corradino Correctional Facility are demonstrating the importance of showing unity as a country through these challenging times and reiterated that these initiatives serve to show the purpose of the correctional facility as a place where rehabilitation is promoted.

The administration of the Corradino Correctional Facility said that despite the fact that prisoners have made mistakes in the past, they are now supporting society during such a difficult moment for the country.
