An inmate at the Corradino Correctional Facility has tested positive for coronavirus. The inmate is a 28-year-old from Egypt who was arrested and amitted at CCF during the past days.
A spokesperson to the Home Affairs Ministry has confirmed this with Newsbook.com.mt
Sources explained to this newsroom that following this situation a number of CCF officials and other inmates underwent a swab test.
The spokesperson explained that the procedure followed is that every inmate when he or she enters the facility is kept in isolation and swab tests are carried out. All employees and officials are also provided with the necessary protective equipment as a precaution.
Possible COVID-19 cases at Gozo Sixth Form
In the meantime, Newsbook.com.mt is informed that at the Gozo Sixth Form, Sir M.A Refalo, it is suspected that a student contracted the virus and as precaution students were instructed to follow the lectures online.
The newsroom is informed that a female student was a direct contact to a positive case and she has subsequently showed symptoms of coronavirus.
Luqa & Ta’ Qali Civic Amenity sites temporarily closed
The Civic Amenity sites at Luqa and Ta’ Qali are temporarily closed as a number of employees are in preventative quarantine. This was confirmed with Newsbook.com.mt by a spokesperson at Wasteserv.
The sites were closed around three days ago.
This newsroom was also informed that individuals went to dispose waste at the Civic Amenity sites and were informed that they are closed as an employee has tested positive to the virus.
Wasteserv has informed the public that instead of the Luqa and Ta’ Qali Civic Amenity sites, people can visit the nearest site in Ħal-Far or Mrieħel.
