Partit Nazzjonalista leader Adrian Deliamet with President George Vella after Opposition MPs went to the President triggering a process designed to replace him as Opposition Leader, earlier on Thursday.
Following this meeting, Newsbook.com.mt is informed that MPs Beppe Fenech Adami and Ivan J. Bartolo held a meeting with President Vella. MP Herman Schiavone is currently meeting the President, while MPs Jason Azzopardi and Karl Gouder were spotted arriving at San Anton Palace. Mario De Marco arrived later.
The majority of PN MPs chose Therese Comodini Cachia as their nomination for the role.
MPs Chris Said and Claudette Buttigieg met President Vella to inform him that Delia no longer had the majority of the support of the Opposition.
Under article 90 of the Constitution, the President can remove the Leader of the Opposition, if in his judgement, the leader no longer commands the support of the parliamentary group.
Delia lost a vote of confidence on Tuesday.
If appointed, Comodini Cachia will be the first woman to take up the role.
