Enemalta had stated there may be more power cuts in the next few days. While answering questions by Newsbook.com.mt, Enemalta suggested that the damage inflicted and possible future damage results from a fault in the cable between Malta and Sicily.

The 23rd of December saw an extensive electric power cut hitting all of Malta and Gozo. Enemalta had stated that preliminary investigations indicate the cause of the power cut to be a fault on the interconnector cable between Malta and Sicily.
