Pope to meet ACN delegation for action on Syria

A delegation from the Internatinal Pontifical Foundation Aid to Church in Need (ACN) this morning will meet Pope Francis to organise prayers for peace and with solidarity with the Syrian population particularl those families who lost their dear ones in the war and in remembrance of the war victims.

During this morning’s audience Pope Francis will bless 6,000 rosaries to be distributed amongst the families of the Syrian war victims.  The Pope expressed his personal commitment to the activities Aid to Church in Need will organise together with the Christina Leaders in Syria on 15th September coming, being the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows.

Peace for Syria

The theme of the said activities will be “Comfort my People”.  On that same day during the Angelus the Pope will pray for peace in Syria and for the families and friends of the victims of the war and those who were abducted during the fighting.

The celebration is meant so that Christians and the whole Syrian community will have solice and as an appeal for repentance, reconciliation on a personal and communal level.

Through the initiative “Comfort my People” ACN hopes to bring spiritual consolation and moral support to the families and friends of those who were killed and abducted during the Syrian war.

ACN is still helping Christians in Syria as it has been doing since 2011.  During this time it supported 850 projects aid at the pastoral care, emergency help and food aid to the People of God, in this country.
