This morning, Pope Francis met with the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, in the Vatican Apostolic Palace.

In the course of the conversation, they “also focused on some international and regional issues, with special attention to the future structure of the European Union and to migration.” This was announced by the Press Room.

On Twitter, Tusk explained that Pope Francis and himself discussed the difference between ‘populismo’ and ‘popolarismo’ distinguishing the politics of ‘pleasing the people’ from the politics of ‘for the people’, which he stated is a key question for European Christian Democrats.
