Pope Francis donates 30 respirators

Tista' taqra bil- Malti.

Pope Francis donated 30 respirators to intensive care units of hospitals in Italy and Spain. This is to help with the coronavirus efforts.

He handed them over to the Office of Papal Charities. The bishops of the individual dioceses will then hand them over to the hospitals that will need them most. The Office of Papal Charities is the department of the Holy See charged with exercising charity to the poor in the name of the Holy Father.

Italy and Spain are amongst the hardest-hit countries, and are suffering high death rates due to limited medical resources.

Public prayer tonight

Last Sunday, Pope Francis announced a number of dedicated public prayers. One of these public prayers is to happen tonight.

He invited all Christians from all over the world “to participate spiritually” during the live broadcast. The Holy See will preside over a moment of prayer against the coronavirus which has now claimed more than 24,000 lives worldwide.
