Various news agencies have reported that, contrary to what was reported earlier by German media, Former Pope Benedict is not seriously ill.

Today, media reported that the 93-year-old Pope emeritus’s health is frail and has been suffering from an infection that causes rashes that are painful and common amongst old people.

However, on Twitter, Gerard O’Connell, Vatican Correspondent for America magazine, tweeted that according to the Vatican press office, Archbishop Georg Ganswein, personal secretary of Benedict XVI, stated that “the health condition of the emeritus pope does not give cause for particular concern, except that of a 93-year-old who’s overcoming the most acute phase of a painful but not serious illness.”

Earlier on, an admin of the Facebook page ‘Benedict XVI – The Court of the Gentiles‘, Alessandra Dee Crespo broke the story on Facebook when she revealed that she received confirmation from an eminent Vatican journalist that Benedict XVI’s ailment is not life-threatening.
