Everyone involved with policies defining Malta’s development need to ‘look at the bigger picture,’ the President of the Malta Chamber Perit David Xuereb, has said.

During a panel discussion entitled, ‘Construction Industry & Property Market’ at the 2019 National Conference, Perit Xuereb explained the importance of the building industry to the Maltese economy, but that those involved need to think long term.

The President asked what the country’s built environment hoped to look like in the next 5 – 10 years, suggesting that this meant the key actors needed to come up with a plan for the future.

Xuereb, ‘called on politicians, regulators and practitioners alike to look at the bigger picture, and determine the policies that will define our environment, our road network, our built infrastructure and ultimately the quality of life and resilience of its community – our nation.’

In addition to this, the President said that new technologies must also be included within these plans ‘as they were expected to be the disruptive technologies that will be determining the goal-posts of tomorrow’s economy which included the building industry.’
