Tista' taqra bil- Malti.

The public is urged to exercise caution when receiving calls from local numbers claiming to originate from government departments such as the Inland Revenue Department.

The Police has warned the public to beware of unsolicited telephone calls received through local numbers in a Facebook post.

The Police explained that the caller pretends to be calling on behalf of a department such as the Inland Revenue Department.

The scammers are trying to obtain the recipient’s personal bank details by claiming that the department is paying tax refunds or payments related to coronavirus.

One should never provide personal bank details over the phone, the Police reminded.
