In a statement Police confirmed that an anti-drug trafficking operation took place in Paola. In Melita street, Paola, two men were arrested.
The Police intercepted a car being driven by a 40-year-old resident in Ħamrun and a 29-year-old from Paola. Following a search in the vehicle 2 kg of substance suspected to be drugs was found.
A search was carried out in the residence in Melita street and in a garage in Santa Ubaldesca street owned by the younger man. In the house the Police found substance suspected to be cocaine and cannabis, €100,000 in jewellery and around €78,000 in cash.
A Range Rover Sports and a Mercedes E63, with a value of approxiametly €250,000 have been impounded.
Further 3.5 kg substance suspected to be cocaine was found in a garage in Triq il-Qaddiefa l-Marsa, owned by the 40-year-old.
The street value of the bust would amount to €350,000 the Police said.
Duty Magistrate Dr Marseann Farrugia was informed about the case.
The men are being held at the Police HQ under arrest. They are expected to appear in court tomorrow charged of drug trafficking and money laundering.
