MEP Sven Giegold said that the police in Malta had aways been a problem since it had held back from opening investigtions. Giegold was speaking to Newsbook.com.mt after his meeting, together with the other MEPs , with the Attorney General. The MEPs from across the political spectrum are in Malta on an urgent mission in view of the current political crisis.
Giegold said that the meeting with the Attorney General did not yield many results. He said that he believes that the root of the problem is the inertia of the police in opening investigations. He added that the majority of the countries in the EU investigations are carried out, in particular where there are suspicions of money-laundering, financial crime and corruption.
