The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised against unnecessary travel – especially tourist travel – to Malta due to a high incidence of Covid-19.

Though no travel restrictions have yet been implemented, the Polish government warned that there may be restrictions or a total ban of flights between Malta and Poland in the near future.

As a sharp increase in cases has seen Malta record the second-highest incidence of Covid-19 in Europe, behind Spain, various European countries have imposed travel bans or restrictions.

Earlier today, Malta reported 36 new cases and 52 recoveries. However, it also reported the first death from Covid-19 in months, the tenth caused by the pandemic in Malta to date.
