Nationalist MP Herman Schiavone confirmed with he is willing to give up his parliamentary seat if Bernard Grech is elected as the new Opposition and Nationalist Party leader.

In his comments to this newsroom Schiavone stated that he is willing to do so in the best interest of the party and for the country.

In April 2019, Herman Schiavone had suspended himself from the PN’s parliamentary group after news emerged that he and the PN General Council President and MP, Kristy Debono had organized a meeting with Yorgen Fenech, the businessman behind the secret Dubai company and who is charged with complicity in the assassination of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.

After an internal inquiry it was established that Schiavone and Debono met with Yorgen Fenech to discuss some sort of sponsorship. He was then reinstated to the PN parliamentary group.

Speaking to Hermann Schiavone also mentioned how he was ready to give up his seat in parliament three years ago when Adrian Delia was elected as the new PN leader.
