Opposition MP Frederick Azzopardi will be brought back by an air ambulance to Malta, Speaker of the House Anglu Farrugia told parliament on Wednesday.

Azzopardi fell ill while on parliamentary duties in Morocco.

During the plenary on Wednesday, Partit Nazzjonalista deputy leader David Agius asked for an update about the situation. Farrugia replied that he was in constant contact with Azzopardi and that the necessary arrangements were made for him to be brought back to Malta.

A parliamentary delegation was in Morocco for the autumn session of the parliamentary assembly of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) which came to an end on Sunday.

On Monday, it was announced that Azzopardi was receiving medical care in a centre in Morocco.
