Partit Nazzjonalista marked Malta’s 16th anniversary since the country joined the European Union.

In a statement on Friday, the Opposition said that the country has overall benefited from its EU membership, adding that its horizons were widened and its positions were consolidated.

The anniversary coincides with International Workers’ Day, with Partit Nazzjonalista saying that Malta’s accession was a step forward to achieve better rights and protection for workers.

Partit Nazzjonalista remarked that the country had a voice within the bloc which could be used to influence the agenda on different fronts. Above all Malta has the essential tools to wield further its foreign policy which could address what is happening in the Mediterranean, the party said.
