A letter has been sent by key Nationalist Party officials calling on the Chairman of the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee to investigate two media reports surrounding the employment contracts and termination of employees working with the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA).
In the statement submitted by leader of the Opposition Nationalist Party Adrian Delia, Finance spokesperson Mario de Marco and Economy Financial Services and Innovation spokesperson Kristy Debono, they call for investigation into an individual that was given an early retirement sum from MFSA and then re-employed with another entity within MFSA. They explain that the individual had been the head of the HR team. The situation raised questions about proper use of public funds and good governance.
The statement also refers to a second case involving a judicial protest presented against the CEO of MFSA Joe Cuscheri and the accusations of abusing public funds.
The PN officials say that they condemn such behavior, adding that the abuses of public funds should be investigated and political responsibility taken for the incidents.
