Nationalist PM Karol Aquilina said that the Prime Minister’s inability to remove Chris Cardona as his deputy leader suggests that Robert Abela is being held hostage by hidden interests.
Cardona’s name featured a number of times this week in Melvin Theuma’s testimony in the case against Yorgen Fenech, accused of being the mastermind behind the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.
In a statement, Aqulina said that Abela’s inertia in taking the appropriate action to remove Cardona from deputy leader of the Labour party has shown the PM’s inability to call the shots in the best interest of the country.
Aquilina said Abela has been freedom not only to Cardona but also Keith Schembri and Konrad Mizzi to go about their business as if nothing has happened. The Nationalist MP insisted that this reveals the true pact with the devil that Abela mentioned during his campaign to become PM.
“The Prime Minister must explain what he intends to do with Cardona and explain why he has taken no action so far,” he said.
