“PM must take immediate action against entity using Muscat’s services” – Cassola

Independent candidate and former Chairperson of Alternattiva Demokratika Arnold Cassola urged Prime Minister Robert Abela to take immediate action against former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat who according to media reports has been using his former position to secure an agreement for a precious goods freeport investment to Malta.

The details were published yesterday by Malta Today. According to the report Joseph Muscat personally contacted a swiss businessman Yves Bouvier suggesting the creation of a freeport for precious goods in Malta.

The report said that “Muscat was prime minister when the suggestion was made to the Maltese government to set up an underground maximum-security vault with direct access to the Malta International Airport runways, offering tax-free storage for precious goods.”

In his statement, Independent candidate Arnold Cassola said that it is scandalous that despite Joseph Muscat’s proven association with Yorgen Fenech, who is being accused of ordering the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia, a state entity, under Robert Abela’s premiership has commissioned Joseph Muscat to serve as a go in between in a business deal with foreign investors.

Cassola mentions how Joseph Muscat said he was asked by a government entity whether he still has contact with the mentioned businessman in order to revive the correspondence.

Arnold Cassola stated that this is unacceptable and that “the government entity in question should immediately be outed, its director disciplined and Joseph Muscat kicked out.”

He also said that if Robert Abela fails to take action he would confirm his complicity with and for covering up for Joseph Muscat.
