During his visit to Japan, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said that the Malta Stock Exchange will soon announce the setting up of the Malta Stock Exchange Blockchain Consortium.

This Consortium will serve as a think-tank to design and implement blockchain applications.

The Prime Minister was addressing a business forum between Malta and Japan in Tokyo. The forum was organised by Trade Malta in collaboration with the Japanese Commerce Organisation.

Muscat also said that Malta will start the process for the implementation of the economic partnership between the European Union and Japan together with the strategic partnership which was signed earlier in July.

During his visit, Muscat also had a meeting with the Managing Director of Mitsui, during which they discussed the energy sector.
