Prime Minister Robert Abela is doing exactly what the US President, Donald Trump is doing, that is not following what science says on the coronavirus pandemic, said Martin Balzan, President of the Medical Association of Malta during an interview on 103 Malta’s Heart on Wednesday morning.
Balzan was being interviewed by Jesmond Saliba after MAM issued a statement in which it announced that the directives already in place will be extended and that the number of coronavirus cases to be announced today will be a new record.
The MAM president referred to what Prime Minister Abela said yesterday in his comments to Newsbook.com.mt, that the cases in Malta are mild and that there is no need to worry.
He insited that authorities should not permit gatherings of more then 10 people while emphasising the importance of enforcement.
During the telephone interview Martin Balzan continued to explain how the number of positive cases are continuing to result from parties, Paceville, bars and other events such has holy comunion parties. He then mentioned the sporadic cases which health authorities have to establish how the patients contracted the virus as they were locally transmitted.
MAM president concluded by saying that it is true that our economy needs to remain stable and minimally affected but it is also true that the cases are not just increasing but Malta is exporting coronavirus.
