The Malta Chamber of Planners said that planning is not about planning permits but land use and allocation.
The chamber issued a press release on the 70th anniversary of World Town Planning Day, in which they expressed their dismay that planners are not sought after to provide a technical opinion.
On the contrary, they are being perceived as being critical of currently adopted methods.
The chamber asked whether the transformation of our traditional urban landscape and the urbanised areas outside the designated development areas are an issue of bad planning or political lobbying.
The World Town Planning Day was founded in 1965. It was initiated by Carlos Maria della Paolera from the University of Buenos Aires to advance public and professional interest to planning.
