An 11 meter footbridge across Vjal l-Avjazzjoni Luqa received green light from the Planning Authority on Tuesday. The foot bridge will take into consideration both pedetrians and cyclists, and will have ramps included in its design. The ramps also provide for persons with mobility issues, having quarter landings in order to make it more accessible.
In a statement the Authority explained that the bridge would ensure a safer environment for passenger movement around the Malta International Airport as well as the ITS students whose campus is situated at the former head of Air Malta.
The Authority described the structure of the bridge which would consist of two helical ramps on either side, creating a continuous ribbon emerging from the terrain leading to the bridge structure.
