The Police have arrested three men that form part of an organised group that imports cannabis and cocaine into Malta to be trafficked over a “substantial scale”.
In a press release, the Police said that the arrests were affected following an Anti-Drug Squad operation. Two of the men arrested are of British nationality whilst the third man holds a Maltese nationality even though he was born in England. They were living in Naxxar, Żabbar and Msida and they all fall between the ages of 28 and 37.
The Police said that various 2 kilo packets containing what is suspected o be cannabis ready to be trafficked were found in the vehicle of one of the British nationals that resides in Naxxar .
A cutting agent was also found
A search in his Naxxar residence uncovered various 2 kilo packages containing white powder. Following analysis, the powder resulted to be some sort of cutting agent that is usually mixed with cocaine to enable traffickers to increase the volume of the substance for further income.
The search in the other Briton’s residence in Msida, brought to light €70,000 in cash and two watches with a street value of around €24,000.
According to the Police, the three men will be brought in front of Court on Friday or Saturday accused of association, trafficking and aggravated possession of dangerous pharmaceuticals. There is also the possibility that they might also be accused of money laundering.
