Photos: Protected trees felled in Dwejra

San Lawrenz Local Council has condemned the vandalism in Dwejra where a number of protected trees were felled by unknown individuals and red paint was thrown over one of the kiosks.

In a brief statement on Facebook, the council said that it was touch with the Gozo Ministry to ensure that the necessary action is taken against the perpetrators.

The police have already spoken to some people. The case is being investigated while the police is searching for CCTV footage.

It is understood that the vandalism occurred between Thursday and Friday while the police report was filed on Saturday morning.

Newsbook.com.mt has received more photos showing the vandalism done in Dwejra. These photos were also sent to the police.

One of the trees which fell victim to the vandalism attack was an African Tamarisk, a tree which is protected by law. The rest of the trees were planted in the recent years.
