A new primary school in Rabat (Victoria) in Gozo is set to be part of an educational complex which will also encompass the Middle School.
A spokesperson for the Foundation for Tomorrow’s Schools (FTS) told Newsbook.com.mt that the plans will need to go through the Planning Authority first. The school should be open in September 2019, two years after the planned date. According to the PA site, the process is still in the screening stage.
In the meantime, the Commission for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) objected to this building saying that the sanitary facilities do not comply with accessibility requirements, amongst other issues.
Last March, the Malta Union of Teachers revealed that the plans were not to propose a brand-new primary school building in Rabat, Gozo but simply to extend the Middle School.
The teachers of the Middle School in Rabat, Gozo are objecting to the new school built in the sports complex in Triq l-Ewropa. They had signed a petition and sent a letter to the Minister for Education Evarist Bartolo with their complaints.
