Malta has won against Latvia after scoring a goal during injury time on Tuesday, winning 1-0 away. Malta moved second in its UEFA Nations League group with five points and two points behind Faroe Islands who are playing against Andorra on Tuesday night.
Steve Borg scored with a header at the 96th minute following a free kick from Stephen Pisani.
“Clearly I am happy for the association, for MFA, for the players, for the staff and for myself,” Malta coach Devis Mangia said in his first comments after the match.
“From what we did from July to date, we deserve this kind of satisfaction,” he added.

This is the first time since 2013, that Malta has won a game away from home.
Malta has won away in Riga following a goalless draw in La Vella when it played against Andorra.
On 6 September, Malta played at home against Latvia with the game ending 1-1.
Malta’s next game is on 14 November when it will play at home against Andorra.
