Five Maltese building projects have been listed among 383 competing for the EU MIES architecture Award
The award recognises excellence in the field of architecture and also to explore the built environment.
The buildings nominated come from a variety of uses and their connection to the size of the population, from communities with less than 20,000 people up to European capitals with more than a million. The construction could in this case be a home, an office space or even an educational establishment.
The 5 Maltese hopefuls include the; Restoration and rehabilitation of the Phoenicia Hotel by Architect Project, a Semi-detached home in Sweqi designed by Archi+, a family home in St Pauls, the eCabs booking office in St Julians designed by Valentino architects and the Farsons Corporate Office Extension in Mriehel, designed by TBA Periti.
A jury has been selected to shortlist, the over 300 projects of which they will select 40.
Should one or more of Malta’s entries make it through and be selected, they will go through a further set of selection which will result in the winning project being announced in May 2019.
