On the 26th of August, 20 children and their leaders participated in a beach clean-up at Saint Thomas Bay, in Marsaskala. This activity was organised by the Diocesan Commission for Children.

The children cleaned rubbish found on the beach’s sand, on the rocks, and in the road besides the bay; which was then separated into appropriate garbage bags. Among others, the waste collected included pieces of glass and tiles, food scraps, plastics and paper, and around 2000 cigarette buds.

The main purpose for this voluntary activity was to raise awareness among children and youths about the importance of maintaining a clean environment. This initiative was also inspired by Pope Francis, who continuously keeps on appealing for people to protect their common home.
