In a joint statement issued by the Chamber of Pharmacists and the Chamber for SMEs as a reaction to a shortage of the flu vaccine, the two organisations declined responsibility for the scarcity.
‘We ask the general public to understand the situation’, the organisations said. Covid-19, they added, hasresulted in a worldwide shortage of flu vaccines. Local suppliers are finding it hard to stock up to the demand. They said that an increase in demand across Europe resulted in scarce stocks. This is making it difficult for local agents to secure stocks for the local market.
Meanwhile the free vaccination programme supplied by government, which had also been paused for several weeks also due to lack of stock, has now resumed.
