Person fined for breaching mandatory quarantine; 34 fined €100 each for public gatherings

A person has been fined for breaching mandatory quarantine while 34 individuals have each been fined €100 each after they gathered in groups of over than four individuals in public, during inspections in the last 24 hours.

The police and the environmental health officers carried out a total 432 inspections between Wednesday and Thursday.

This figures were published in the daily coronavirus bulletin by the government.

On Thursday, a spike in new cases was registered in Malta after 14 new cases were detected following 1,321 tests in the past 24 hours. Seven individuals have recovered from the virus. The total number of individuals who were declared to have recovered from the virus stands at 443. Among the newly registered cases there were two patients who had no symptoms and three healthcare workers. Half of the new cases were individuals who contracted the virus from the community. 73 cases remain active.
