Partit Demokratiku slammed the Planning Authority saying that developers could block public scrutiny of development applications by intentionally excluding certain details from their submission. PD has called on the Planning Authority to restore full transparency when it comes to planning applications and submissions in a statement on Friday.
PD observed that this has resulted in the general public and journalists finding that their access to the applications is blocked on the grounds that the submissions are “incomplete”.
“This underhanded manoeuvre is being used to block access to a number of mega projects as in the case of a new tower in Tigné and a new fish farm, the size of which will cover an area of 486 football grounds, which is to be located off Gozo,” PD said.
PD MP Godfrey Farrugia said that this strategy goes against Partit Laburista’s electoral promise of guaranteeing more transparency.
