Parliamentary committee approves embryo freezing protocol

The Parliamentary committee for health has unanimously approved a protocol which would allow for embryo freezing to start. Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Chris Fearne said that the Authority responsible for the Protection of Embryos would be responsible of authorizing the fertilization of two up to a maximum of five fertilized eggs.

The law was enacted last June, however with the new amendments, when more than two eggs are fertilized, a permit for freezing would be issued.

Health Minister Chris Fearne expressed satisfaction that more Maltese would attain their dream to become parents.
