Parliament starts legislative process on Venice Commission recommendations

The government started the legislative process towards the implementation of the recommendation from the Venice Commission on Monday. Minister for Justice Owen Bonnici presented the proposed amendments in parliament for the first reading.

A press release from the Ministry for Justice also stated that it is committed to see that the amendments in the law regarding the Office of the Attorney General will go through the whole process and be incorporated before the Summer holidays.

The aim of this amendment is to detach the civil and prosecutory functions of the office.
