‘Our rescuees and crew are in mortal danger’ – Sea Eye Chairman

92 people and 17 rescuers are in mortal danger, Gordon Isler Chairman of the German migrant rescue vessel Sea Eye has warned.

According to Isler, the Libyan Coastguard has surrounded the Alan Kurdi vessel and are threatening the crew and migrants at gun-point.

It is unclear how many vessels are surrounding the NGO vessel but Isler warns that they are obstructing the vessel’s operations. He adds that there are ‘people in the water.’

This is the current position of the vessel off the Libyan coast.
