Prime Minister and Partit Laburista (PL) leader Joseph Muscat said that Malta is not just experiencing an economic expansion, but a threefold economic expansion. Muscat said this during his usual Sunday radio contribution on the party’s station.
When asked about the economy, Muscat also said that the government will not rest on its laurels but will continue to work to create more investment and jobs. He added that the government’s job is to encourage the citizens to invest, spend money and therefore generate more economic wellbeing.
Touching on the Budget 2020, the Prime Minister said that his government has always registered a surplus and whilst never introducing any new taxes in past budgets. He added that on October the 14th, the citizens to will see that his government is one to be trusted as it is working on their behalf.
He mentioned that the government will soon be unveiling initiatives related to our environment, its protection and the quality of the air that we breathe.

Joseph Muscat then talked about what he called the “unprecedented” foreign demand for Malta government bonds. The Prime Minister said that for the first time ever, foreign institutions will be paying into the Maltese coffers to be eligible to lend us money.
