Opposition lodges request to discuss PA secretive methods

Tista' taqra bil- Malti.

The Opposition has officially forwarded a request to discuss the new “secretive methods” that are being implemented within the Planning Authority with the Chairman of the Environment and Planning Parliamentary Committee.

Jason Azzopardi, the Opposition’s spokesperson in the matter, said that this was uncovered through the local media. He added that the Opposition believes that there should be more transparency in the environmental sector.

According to Azzopardi, the European Commission has just started infringement proceedings against Malta due to the government’s shrouding of the Environment Impact Assessments.

Earlier this month, Jason Azzopardi had spoken out against the removal of 550 trees from Santa Luċija. In a press release, he said that Partit Nazzjonalista (PN) cannot alienate itself from the justified frustration that is being felt by thousands of citizens over the trees massacre on the islands.
