Online courses for students transitioning from one school to another

Tista' taqra bil- Malti.

Aġenzija Żgħażagħ is offering two online courses, My Next School Adventure and The Secondary School Survival Kit. As students transition from primary to middle school and from middle school to secondary school they are often faced with social, emotional and physiological changes that can impact on their wellbeing and learning.

These courses aim to facilitate a smoother transition from one school to another and were designed specifically to be fun and interactive while catering for the needs of these students and to provide the necessary life skills through which students can maintain their wellbeing and learning.

My Next School Adventure targets students who have just finished Year 6 and will be starting Year 7 next September. The sessions will provide an opportunity to students to explore their personal skills,  look at effective ways to express their views in class, discovering their learning styles, working with fellow students effectively, learning to be active students, dealing with conflict and getting support from school and how to manage time both at school and home. We will be visiting these themes through fun and interactive activities and at the end of the course students will be given a certificate of participation.

The Secondary School Survival Kit targets students who have just finished Year 8 and will be starting Year 9 next September. The programme consists of eight sessions of 1.5 hours each, aimed to give space to students to equip themselves with life skills that are considered important for a successful transition to their last their years of secondary school.

The sessions will tackle the following themes: Thinking about the future, Goal setting, Time Management, Strengths and Weaknesses, Friendship, Wellbeing Online and Offline and Skills for Secondary. We will be visiting these themes through a playlist of songs while discussing and doing activities together. Students will be given a certificate of participation and the survival kit at the end of the course.

Both courses consist of eight sessions of 90 minutes each. Multiple online sessions on different days and during different times are available to accommodate as many students as possible. Online applications are open until the 10th July.
