A streak of four consecutive days without new Covid-19 cases being identified has been broken, as the latest bulletin by the health authorities has flagged one new case today.
The number of active cases nevertheless went down, with seven recoveries bringing the total down to 15.
The new positive case was described as a “symptomatic sporadic case,” and was identified through 1,135 swab tests carried out in the past 24 hours.
The number represents a return to normal levels: as generally happens during weekends, considerably fewer tests were being carried out.
The total number of swab tests carried out so far is 96,266.
There have been 671 total cases of Covid-19 recorded in Malta so far. 647 patients have made a recovery, but the pandemic has claimed nine lives to date.
