On students’ advice, ITS postpones graduation ceremony

The Institute of Tourism Studies has announced that it has postponed the graduation ceremony that would have been held in the first Monday of December to a tentative date in the first half of 2021, in light of the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions.

The institute said that the decision was the preferred option by the majority of the students concerned, stating that it had provided them with two possible options. The first was to hold the ceremony in December as planned, but with Covid-19 restrictions meaning family and friends could not attend. The second was to postpone to the first half of 2021 in the hope that regulations would be eased by then.

“The majority of students preferred the second option, that to postpone the graduation so they would be able to celebrate this milestone with their family & friends when health regulations permit events of this kind,” ITS confirmed.

But the institute highlighted that the students will still receive their certificates via Blockchain, readily accessible online and ready to share with future employers. The certificates will be stamped with the original graduation date.

Students requiring transcripts for work purposes may also collect them from the registrar’s office as from 7 December.
