The Democratic Alternative Party said the annual report the Ombuldsman has just published is very worrying, as it unveils the weak foundations of accountability of the political class.

Carmel Cacopardo said this while he was leading the AD delegation during a visit to the Ombuldsman Anthony Mifsud.

He claimed that when the members of the Cabinet prevent the justice process, it reflects badly on the democratic state of the country.

Cacopardo stressed how fundamental access to information is in a democratic state, and he pointed at two serious issues.

These are the lack of information asked for by the ministries and authorities, as well as the failure to publish contracts about essential services, such as energy and health.
