Number of Maltese on the streets bound to increase

The Federation for Estate Agents (FEA) has said that the number of Maltese citizens on the streets is bound to increase.

The Federation explained that the inflation of property prices created a situation wherein a considerable number of people do not make enough money to buy or rent a place to live in. According to the Federation, the influx of foreigners in the past years and the fact that no measures addressing this influx were implemented led to the aforementioned issue.

The lack of representation of the poor in governmental boards is feeding into this issue too.

In reaction, the association Żminijietna – Leħen ix-Xellug, said that the Government should increase social benefits, social accommodation, free medicine and an increase in minimum wage.
