Police check points continued early morning on Wednesday following the police inspections held on New Year’s Eve during which 52 were found violating the Traffic Code.
In a second statement, the Police said that two motorists were caught drink-driving. The traffic violations included dangerous driving, driving without a seatbelt, driving with an invalid licence, amongst other violations.
A motorist attempted to flee the scene when stopped by the police.
No drink-drivers among 52 caught on New Year’s Eve
52 motorists were found to be violating the law code during police inspections on New Year’s Eve, however, no drink-drivers were on the list.
In a statement the Police said that motorists were found to driving without a valid licence, driving without a car insurance policy, driving without a seatbelt, driving with excessive speed, using a mobile while driving, driving a vehicle without a registration number, amongst other violations.
The police inspections carried out by the Traffic Division and the Dogs’ section in various locations including Floriana, Ħ’Attard, Sliema, Burmarrad, St Julian’s, Swieqi, Rabat, Żejtun, il-Fgura, San Ġwann and Ħaż-Żabbar.
