Six NGOs received a share of a €35,000 grant from the government for their services to the Civil Protection Department.
Internal Affairs Minister Michael Farrugia who was present at the presentation ceremony spoke about a revamping of Maltese fire stations to be made impervious to seismic activity. New stations will also include allocated space for NGOs to be able to store their machinery. There will also be physical and academic programmes for all employees.
Red Cross received €18,000; St John Rescue Core €6,000; Emergency Fire & Rescue €4,000; Emergency Response & Rescue Core €3,000; St John Ambulance €1,500; and the Malta Amateur Radio League €2,500.
