Minister Byron Camilleri advised Parliament that the prisoners at the Corradino Correctional Facility are set to get new uniforms. The minister said that the prison authorities are being faced with several prisoners who have nothing to wear and the onus then falls on them to provide clothing.
Designed by the Prison tailor, the uniform consists of a pair of shorts and tee-shirt for summer wear. The shorts are replaced by jeans in winter. The uniform will not be sporting the stereotypical stripes confirmed the Minister in reply to a question posed by Opposition spokesman Beppe Fenech Adami.
On the 5th January, inmates started receiving visits from family again after these visits had previously been suspended for about 2 months due to COVID-19
