The local NGO, Victim Support Malta is launching a new service to help prevent suicide among those who would be recovering from failed attempts at taking their lives. The organisation’s main aim is to care for victims of criminality on an emotional and legal level and this service is an extension of its mission.
According to local statistics, 289 suicides have been reported between 2007 and 2017. Many suicides are not reported due to the sensitivity of the subject and a number of departments involved in such cases.
Victim Support Malta is working with Marigold Foundation to equip a specialized team by December 2018 for this new public support service which will take the form of therapy on a personal, group and family level.
The public can contact Victim Support Malta by telephone, email or social media.
