The new headquarters in Mosta were inaugurated by Prime Minister Robert Abela and Principal Permanent Secretary Mario Cutajar on Wednesday.

Cutajar said that the new headquarters heralded the beginning of the second phase of the renewal in the public service. This phase, he said, would make better use of emerging technologies, including through remote work stations offering greater flexibility.

The public service chief said that it was no surprise that according to the Eurobarometer surveys, 64% of the Maltese had faith in the public service, a rate 12 percentage points higher than the EU average.

Through, around 1,500 services can be offered under one roof. Abela observed that over 300,000 people have visited one of its 23 hubs in the past 5 years, including 60,000 in just the last three months, in which took over the social security district offices.
