A number of measures will be enforced at the out-patients department at Mater Hospital as from the 25th of September. According to an e-mail sent to medical doctors at Mater Dei, which reached this newsroom says that the measures will come into place as people at the out-patients department are not observing social distancing and that the number of COVID-19 cases in the community is of concern.
On Saturday doctors have been informed that limits to attendance to out-patients will be introduced between 7 am and 10:30 am to those who have an appointment within 30 minutes from their attendance.
Those who do not have their paper appointment or their sms appointment will be able to one printed at a desk in the main foyer, according to the e-mail which also says that walk-ins will only be allowed entrance to the out-patients after 10:30 am.
The e-mail says that the lack of social distance at the out-patients department is mostly evident between 7:00 am and 10:30 am.
People have been recently sharing photos on social media which show that not everyone is observing social distancing at the out-patients department and are calling on authorities to take immediate action.
The e-mail which was sent by the Medical Director at Mater Dei Hospital says that the measures will come into force as of the 25th of September and that the date has been set in advance to allow doctors to come into line with the new plan of action.
Newsbook.com.mt has sent questions to the Ministry for Health for clarifications on the matter but until the time of publishing our questions remained unanswered.
