A new home for the elderly which will be offering its service in the community was inaugurated on Saturday in Victoria. The government and the private home reached an agreement and the home would be providing care to the elderly as well as those who suffer from dementia.
In a statement the Gozo Minister Justyne Caruana said that the services on offer at Casa Amalia form part of the services offered by the Ministry aiming at increasing the quality of life of the elderly and dementia patients, while they continue to live in the community.
The services will be provided both during the day and as well as at night, employing caregivers specialized in treating patients with dementia. Other programmes will also be on offer and would be adapted according to the patients’ needs.
