Save & Support Trust is promoting a nation-wide initiative to collect funds to purchase 45 oxygen concentrators which are to be donated to Mater Dei Hospital to urgently assist in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

These 45 oxygen concentrators cost around €35,000.

In a statement, the organisation Save & Support Trust explained that the oxygen concentrator is a device provided to patients that have difficulty breathing. The device helps COVID-19 patients breathe before they need to be on the ventilator.

This initiative is being supported by various business enterprises and major local banks. Beating Hearts is endorsing this initiative and have made a donation to fund 12 of the 45 oxygen concentrators.

The main objective of Save & Support Trust is to support good causes by providing financial assistance to individuals and organisations helping vulnerable people in the local community. During the past years, the Trust has financially supported initiatives of various organisations including Caritas Malta, Millennium Chapel, Hospice Malta, Cystic Fibrosis, Prison Fellowship and others amounting to almost €300,000.

It was also said that funds collected over and above the amount required will be used to purchase and donate other related equipment to Mater Dei to overcome this pandemic, said the organisation.
